Effective June 28, 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Locora (“Locora,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information through locora.com and related Locora services that link to this policy. It does not apply to third-party websites, services, or social platforms that we do not control.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
We may collect information you choose to provide, including your name, email address, phone number, event or business details, source links, messages, and other information included in a submission, newsletter signup, partnership inquiry, or support request. For authorized Locora staff, we also store the staff email address, role, account status, sign-in timestamps, and records of editorial or account actions. Locora uses passwordless email links and does not store staff passwords. Please do not submit sensitive personal information, private records, payment-card data, passwords, government identifiers, or information about another person that you do not have permission to share.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and security providers may automatically receive limited technical information when you use the site, such as IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, requested pages, timestamps, and diagnostic or security logs. Locora may transform an IP address or email address into a one-way keyed value for short-term abuse prevention and rate limiting rather than storing the raw value in the rate-limit record. Authorized staff sessions use secure cookies needed to keep the admin workspace signed in. We may use privacy-conscious analytics in the future to understand aggregate traffic and improve the service. If we add non-essential cookies or similar tracking, we will provide any notice or choice required by applicable law.
Information from public and third-party sources
Locora curates local information from publicly available sources, event organizers, businesses, government publications, and community partners. This may include business contact details, public event information, public officials’ professional information, and links to public records or announcements.
3. How we use information
We may use information to operate, secure, maintain, and improve Locora; review, verify, edit, and publish local submissions; administer authorized staff access; preserve editorial history and accountability; respond to questions and requests; send City Corner updates that a person requested; prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents; enforce our Terms of Use; comply with law; and create aggregate or de-identified insights that do not reasonably identify an individual.
4. How we disclose information
We may disclose information to service providers that host, secure, analyze, or support Locora under appropriate contractual restrictions; to organizers, businesses, or public entities when needed to verify a submission; when required by law or a valid legal process; when reasonably necessary to protect people, rights, property, or the integrity of the service; or as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of Locora’s operations. We do not sell personal information for money. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Information you intentionally submit for publication may become public. Before publishing, we may edit for clarity, accuracy, safety, and relevance and may remove personal contact details that are not necessary for the listing.
5. Retention
We retain submission contact details while a tip is being reviewed and for a limited period afterward for verification, duplicate prevention, safety, and recordkeeping. Newsletter contact information is retained until the person unsubscribes or asks us to remove it, subject to any limited suppression record needed to honor that choice. Staff account records are retained while access is authorized; editorial versions and audit records may be retained longer to protect the integrity and recoverability of the guide. Short-term rate-limit records expire automatically. We may retain information longer when reasonably necessary for disputes, security incidents, legal obligations, or the establishment or defense of legal claims, and may retain de-identified or aggregate information where permitted by law.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for using appropriate care when deciding what to submit and for protecting your own devices and accounts.
7. Your choices and rights
You may unsubscribe from non-transactional email by using the instructions in the message or contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of certain personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request and may deny or limit a request where permitted by law.
California residents may request information about personal information collected, used, or disclosed and may request correction or deletion, subject to legal exceptions. Locora will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. Authorized agents may submit requests where allowed, but we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.
8. Children’s privacy
Locora is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate. Users under the age of legal majority should use submission features with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
9. External links
Locora links to maps, ticketing services, social networks, government pages, and other third-party sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. A link does not mean that Locora controls or endorses the third party’s privacy or security practices.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Locora changes. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law. Your continued use of Locora after the effective date is subject to the updated policy.
11. Contact us
